The 2017 Whistler Village Beer Festival (WVBF) was a roaring success this past weekend in Whistler. Under sunny skies on Saturday, (and some more traditional wet BC Sunday skies) the even hosted over 4,000 thirsty festival attendees. This smashed previous attendance records. Events ran from the Thursday until the Monday, but the main events were in the Olympic Plaza on the weekend afternoons.

Prizes were awarded as follows:

4th place (People’s Choice) as voted by our festival-goers and winner of a draught line at Dubh Linn Gate:
Okanagan Spring Brewery out of Delta, BC

3rd place by redeemed token weight and winner of a draught line at Stonesedge and a bottle at Merlin’s:
Field House Brewing out of Abbotsford, BC

2nd place by redeemed token weight and winner of a draught line at Tapley’s and a bottle at Dusty’s:
Backcountry Brewing out of Squamish, BC

and, 1st place Heavyweight Token Champ and winner of a draught line the Longhorn and a bottle at GLC:
Fuggles & Warlock Craftworks out of Richmond, BC – these guys also took the title at Master Crafters: Battle of the Sours.

My own personal favourites were as follows:

Best in Show – Yellow Dog (Port Moody, BC) High 5 Hazy IPA
Easiest on the Pallet – Moody Ales (Port Moody, BC) Veinna Amber Lager
Best Surprise – Faculty Brewing Co. (Vancouver, BC) 418 Citra Pale Ale
