The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer
I first saw the Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer open up for Current Swell back in February of this year. The buzz they created after their set was undeniable. As I went to the bathroom, as one does after a few glasses of beer, the urinals were uncommonly conversational.
HAM’s brand of Raunch’n’ Roll grabs your groin and lifts your feet. Their sound smells like smoked whiskey and tastes like a 16 oz. steak; this is blues-rock at its finest, and these two boys are making Vancouver proud. With only two members, their talent and stage presence is impeccable, and a pleasure to witness live. Two men with a large, nasty, head-rolling sound; I mean that in the best way possible. These boys have what it takes to go very, very far.
