Gary Clark Jr.: The Blues Burn Brightly

4. The Rolling Stones

Clark has performed live with the Stones on numerous occasions. This past summer, he joined the Stones on stage for a cover of the Don Nix song “Going Down” at Boston’s TD Garden. When the Stones played London’s Hyde Park earlier this year (incidentally, the first time they’d played the venue in forty-four years), Gary Clark Jr. took to the stage with them to play guitar for a spirited rendition of the song “Bitch” off of the Stone’s 1971 album Sticky Fingers. Clark even got to perform alongside the Stones at a concert held in the White House, and received praise from President Obama himself — particularly for a performance of the classic “Five Long Years” that featured Clark and Stones frontman Mick Jagger, playing alongside Buddy Guy and Jeff Beck.
