Aaron Carter’s career began big at the age of seven, as the lead vocalist for a boy band, Dead End. However, after creative differences, the young, spunky singer forged out on his own. In his pursuit of solo stardom, Aaron opened for older brother Nick’s band, The Backstreet Boys, at a 1997 concert in Berlin. Following this, his career took off and he quickly achieved certifiable pre-teen heartthrob status.
Other career accolades included gold status in Norway, Spain, Denmark, Germany, and Canada for his 1997 debut album, Aaron Carter. His next album, Aaron’s Party (Come and Get It) was released in 2000 and saw huge commercial success, with certified platinum status. This lead to his music serving as a veritable soundtrack to the Nickelodeon and Disney channels, and an easy segue into to his acting debut on Disney’s Lizzie McGuire. The tumultuous teenage relationship the ensued between he and co-star, Hilary Duff, captured the attention of us all.
Some Aaron Carter classics include “Crazy Little Party Girl”, “Crush on You”, “Aaron’s Party (Come and Get It), “I Want Candy” and “That’s How I Beat Shaq”. Newer songs include 2009’s “Dance With Me”, featuring Flo Rida, as well as 2013’s “City Lights”.
After the flurry of initial pop-star success in the early 2000’s, Carter has pursued other creative avenues, such as reality television appearances, Off-Broadway performances, and various music festival engagements. But he’s now reviving his sound with a series of shows at more intimate venues in 11 Canadian cities throughout the summer. Included is his show at Fortune Sound Club on June 22nd, 2014.
Sure to be an evening to remember, this tour will shed amphitheater-style visual overload, with the focus being Carter and his crew on stage. While newer songs will be featured, everyone’s inner pre-teen will be satisfied with the array of Carter classics also played. This show is a must for anyone who grew up in the heyday of Aaron Carter mania.
See you at Aaron’s Party June 22nd at Fortune.
