“In 2028 Detroit, when Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop – is critically injured in the line of duty, the multinational conglomerate OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer.”
Another reboot of another film franchise.
Over twenty years after the first RoboCop (1987) came out, Hollywood is dishing up a modernized version of the film. We’ll face the same questions about love, ethics, humanity’s-ability-to-overcome-anything sort of bravado, while being subtly mixed in a big bowl of American patriotism. I don’t think this falls in the superhero genre, but it’s goddamn close. Even still, this rebooted RoboCop looks slick compared to the 80s version. It’ll be interesting to see what they will change now that the technology is available.
