Amaluna – A High Flying Love Affair by Cirque du Soleil

This Shakespearean based performance with a twist tells the tale of Miranda, the rebellious daughter of Prospera, Goddess and queen of a beautiful and mysterious island. Prospera attempts to guide her daughter down the right life path with values and insights which were instilled in her by her own mother. This is proving far more difficult than she expected it to be.

One day, Prospera creates a tempestuous storm and a ship commanded by young sailors becomes wrecked on the island’s shores as a result. Miranda, who has never encountered such men before, falls for Romeo – a handsome young man who had been on board, and what follows is a tale of the literal ups and downs of their love affair.

For the first time since the Quebec-based high flyers began capturing hearts around the world, Amaluna is the first show to bring an actual narrative to Cirque du Soleil audiences. Combined with outstanding, awe-inspiring circus stunts and a contemporary base and cello filled musical score, Amaluna is a definite must see for audiences of all ages.

Cirque du Soleil’s Amaluna runs from November 23rd 2012 – January 13th 2013 at Pacific Boulevard.
