A LA MUSIC, MUSIC INTERVIEWS

Excuse me, do you know of A Place to Bury Strangers? Ha.

You don’t want to miss this, Vancouver. Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, A Place to Bury Strangers (or APTBS) is a three-piece “noise rock” group made up of Oliver Ackermann (guitar and vocals), Dion Lunadon (bass; ex-The D4 and ex-The True Lovers) and Jay Space (drums). I’m calling it ahead of time – this is going to be intense, devastating, and fucking loud. APTBS has been described as a “wall of sound”, but don’t let that scare you off. Citing The Jesus and Mary Chain as an influence, this wall of sound will drop beautiful bricks of shoegaze, fuzz, new wave, post-punk on your pretty little head all night long. You’ll love it. I’ll love it too. We’ll love it together. This Will Destroy You (gotta love the confidence…) is also on the bill. Get ready for some ambient, experimental thrash from Texas. They released Tunnel Blanket in May of last year, following up their eponymous debut full-length from 2008. Check ‘em out. This is building up to be a barn-burner, so get your ticket yesterday. Buy it – then some for all your friends – right here. You pumped? I’m pumped. See you there. A Place to Bury Strangers / This Will Destroy You June 12 at the Biltmore Cabaret with guests
