If you are looking for cultural, foodie-driven, kid-friendly activities this weekend, look no further. The 2019 Vancouver Chinatown Festival is arriving this Saturday and will be filling the Chinatown quarter with loads of activities. Everything from a kids zone to food trucks, photo booths, climbing walls, mobile aquariums, walking tours, outdoor movies, martial arts competitions, live music, and more. Past years have attracted over 50,000 attendees to this unique gem of a festival making it a must-see experience for those visiting Vancouver and locals alike.
There will be no lack of performances at the Vancouver Chinatown Festival with a mix of traditional and modern Asian dance troupes bringing what is promised as a ‘feast to the eye’. This will include the famous Lion dance that is not only visually stunning but is meant to bring good fortune and prosperity to the surrounding community during the Opening Ceremony.
If you are new to the neighbourhood or merely want to be a tourist in your own city, you can take a walking tour with John Atkin and Bob Sung. They will provide an educational experience including Chinatown’s origins and early history while giving you the opportunity to enjoy some of the Chinatown quarters most stunning architecture.
For those looking to get the blood flowing, it could be that the Kung Fu Competitions will be right up your alley. There will be a number of Kung Fu masters from a variety of schools and disciplines showcasing their skills and mastery.
Food, Food, food! Yes, it goes without saying that food trucks will be rolling in with 24 vendors selling a diverse range of snacks and incredible dishes to keep you energized during your Chinatown Festival experience.
