Elin Ruth “Bang”

Elin Ruth’s new video for “Bang” has an irresistibly oldschool Motown flavour with its rich mix of instruments, R&B, backup singers, and soul.  The Swedish singer-songwriter is quite the bombshell, and with her retro style it looks like she’s channeling her inner Bettie Page, if Bettie was a tatted up blonde rocker chick.  Directed and produced by Michael McQuilken, (who also did Amanda Palmer’s “The Bed Song”), the video was released on International Women’s Day ( March 8 ) as a way for Ruth to commemorate all the amazing women in the world.  It features Ruth getting self-liberated by burying her face in a mountain of 200 pancakes, and then ripping off her fake nails to jam out on her guitar.
