For a one-night only screening, our favourite mega shark is returning to the big screen. Steven Spielberg’s Jaws (1975), starring Richard Dreyfuss, is back, just in time for beach season. On Wednesday, July 10th, The Rio will be screening the original summer blockbuster to those looking for a reason not to go swimming past the deep-end. One of those horror films that keeps the suspense high by holding out on showing the source of fear until the very end. Relying mostly on a soundtrack that has, since its release, become synonymous with anything shark-related. On par with Hitchcock’s shower scene from Psycho (1960) in terms of universal recognition. For the screenings of classic movies, The Rio rewards costumed viewers with a discounted ticket. So, instead of the regular $8 ticket price, a tinfoil shark fin strapped to the top of your head will gain you entry for a measly $7. Not too bad considering a tinfoil shark fin hat only takes about ten minutes to put together if you’re slow. So get to crinkling and soon you’ll be screaming! Jaws @ The Rio.
