Vancouver is home to many start-ups and entrepreneurs that are making waves in different industries. One Vancouver entrepreneur created Eco Eats, an app that is tackling the food waste problem while making food more accessible.

Jennae Gedeon

Jennae always wanted to make a positive impact in the community and create a business that would bring a great social change. Her entrepreneurship journey started at Youth Business Innovative Idea Startups (Youth BiiS) Program where she completed the  Vancouver incubator program.

Jenna spent three months researching the challenges of the food system and the idea behind Eco Eats was born. With Jennae’s vivacious attitude, passion, and strong vision, her idea received backing from major Vancouver tech development hubs. Educational institutions such as SFU, BCIT, and Red Academy also voiced their support. Her motto for her venture is “Everyone Eats.” 

The App – Eco Eats

The concept of Eco Eats is simple – it’s a platform that allows people to order the food they love and make food donations. The app is designed to connect lunch and grocery shoppers with charities, and food businesses.

Eco Eats has been named one of the Top 50 BC innovations to watch by Business in Vancouver.

Community Partners and Events

Eco Eats has gained the support of many community partners since its inception. The company recently held a successful event at the Vancouver Arts Market in partnership with Skookum Catering. Skookum Catering is a North Vancouver catering company that focuses heavily on creating vibrant communities. They provided fresh food to the Charity Art Auction that supported the North Shore Women’s Centre.

Other community partners of Eco Eats include Spoonful Food Fair, Starbucks, and Nightingale Films. The platform is in the process of onboarding 700+ community partners.
