The Vancouver Christmas Market is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and there is no better spot in town to get into the holiday spirit. The market is modeled after the long-standing tradition of “Christkindlmarkts” found all across Germany. Vancouver’s Jack Poole Plaza is once again transformed into a charming European mini-town filled with mirth and cheer.

80 vendor booths feature local artisans and an assortment of food and drink. Ride the authentic German carousel before you take a stroll through Lover’s Lane where a 20,000-light archway garnished with mistletoe awaits.

Take a closer look at some of the attractions we wanted to highlight.

The Gingerbread Men quartet is a new addition to the Vancouver Christmas Market this year. Listen to these delightful gentlemen sing your favourite holiday tunes while you drink a cup of Glühwein – a mulled-wine made in the German Christmas tradition.

Food Worth the Long Wait

Make sure to come hungry if you’re visiting the Vancouver Christmas Market just for the food. Savor the warm and comforting Gulasch from Das Gulasch Haus. Indulge in the dreamy, melted cheese at Cheese Me Raclette. Stop by West Coast Wild Foods to pick up foraged mushrooms and decadent fresh truffles straight from the Pacific Northwest.

Don’t forget to make room for dessert! Two Sweet Elves serve up classic Danish poffertjes – mini pancakes served with your choice of toppings. Top these off with Nutella and M&Ms or keep it simple with strawberries and cream.

Head to Transylvanian Chimney Cakes where they have Hungarian kürt?skalács. That is not a typo! Chimney cakes with flakey dough coated with cinnamon sugar, walnuts, or all the above.

Be sure to grab a cup of hot chocolate from I Love Chocolate to warm you up and further satisfy those sweet tooth cravings.
